February 26, 2018: Footballer Bhaichung Bhutia has resigned from the Trinamool Congress today. India Today writes ,
“Bhaichung Bhutia has tweeted about his resignation saying that he is no longer a member of the All India Trinamool Congress and has no association with any political party in India.
Bhutia, who had joined Trinamool Congress in 2013 was a part of the list of candidates for the 2014 April-May Lok Sabha polls. Bhutia had retired from professional football in 2011 and decided to give politics a shot.
The Indian football team skipper had been popular in West Bengal during his playing days”.
