Ali Khamenei killed : Iran confirms the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli airstrikes, declares 40-day mourning, as US President Donald Trump vows continued military action against Iran.
Tehran, March 1: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been killed in a coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel. Iran’s official media reported this on Sunday.
After the announcement, the Iranian government declared 40 days of national mourning.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social. He called the operation a turning point for the people of Iran. He said it was the “single greatest opportunity” for Iranians to take back control of their country.
Meantime, IANS reported that Khamenei died in US-Israeli airstrikes according to State broadcasters.
The semi-official Fars News Agency, quoting sources, said four of his family members were also killed. They included his daughter, a grandchild, and his son-in-law.
In his statement, Trump called Khamenei “one of the most evil people in history.” He said his death was “justice for the people of Iran” and for Americans and others around the world who, he claimed, had suffered because of him.
The US President said advanced US intelligence and tracking systems helped carry out the strike. He said Israel worked closely with the US. He added that Khamenei and other senior leaders could not escape.
Trump also said the larger military action against Iran would continue.
He said precise bombing would go on without pause until what he described as peace in the Middle East and the world is achieved.
The US President again asked Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, armed forces, and police to lay down their weapons. He offered them immunity in return.

In an interview with NBC News on Saturday, Trump said most of Iran’s top leaders were gone. He said, “The people who make the decisions, most of them are gone.”
Besides, Israeli media also reported on Saturday that Khamenei was killed in the joint attack and that his body was found. (With IANS inputs)
