The Chief Minister shared the update while distributing appointment letters to 222 new recruits joining the departments of school education and health & family welfare under the Government of Tripura.

Referring to data from the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Dr Saha in his speech during the event highlighted that during the 2018-19 financial year, Tripura’s unemployment rate stood at 10 percent, notably higher than the then national average of 5.8 percent.

“However, the most recent 2023-24 survey indicates that Tripura’s unemployment rate has fallen to a remarkable 1.7 percent, which is considerably lower than the national average of 3.2 percent”. The Chief Minister referred this improvement as substantial progress in job creation in Tripura.

Apart from survey based statistics, the Chief Minister also came up with actual number of youths got employment after BJP came into power in 2018. He reported that since then, 19,484 individuals including women have been recruited into government positions across various departments through a fair and transparent process, free from any political interference. The Chief Minister further added, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) also played its part in job creation as “TIDC has generated employment for 1617 people”.

Emphasizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura Chief Minister affirmed the state government’s commitment to enhancing the skills and efficiency of its existing workforce. “While the average efficiency level of government employees nationwide was 33.95 percent during pre-Modi regime, it has now improved to 54 percent under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership,” he remarked.

He also highlighted the state government’s focus, guided by PM Modi, on crucial sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and tribal welfare.

“Between January and June of this year alone, I have either inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for development projects exceeding Rs 638.65 crore across the state. This marks just the beginning; development remains an ongoing priority,” Saha asserted while pointing out government’s focus on development.
