A wave of fear has swept through the village of Madhya Rajnagar in North Tripura district following multiple sightings of big cats over the weekend. The sightings, which began on Sunday night, have forced many residents to stay indoors and disrupted normal life in the area.
The first reports of the big cats emerged from Nur Ahmed, who spotted two tigers near the local Anganwadi center while returning home from Dharmanagar. Subsequent sightings have been confirmed by other villagers, including Gias Uddin, who observed two tigers near the boundary wall of Zakaria Hossain’s house.
The densely populated Rajnagar area is now paralyzed with fear. Schools have been closed, shops remain shuttered, and residents are reluctant to venture outside their homes. The sightings have particularly terrified children, who are too scared to attend school.
Local authorities, including forest officials and police, have visited the village to investigate the sightings but have so far been unable to locate the big cats. The incident has drawn serious reactions from villagers, who have expressed concerns for their safety.
