December 06, 2017: Dhalai District authority is all set to carry forward success of implementation of Mission Indra Dhanush December 7, said CMO of Dhalai District Sharadindu Reang on Tuesday in Ambassa. Beginning from December 7, the third phase of the programme will continue till December 16 and 978 ASHA workers along with Health officials and workers, will immunization the district.
The Mission aims at achieving universal Immunization against the deadly diseases among the neo-natal babies and to slash the infant mortality rate as well as ensure better health for expectant mothers. Performance of Dhalai district is commendable as it registered high rate of success in implementation of the programme. Detailing about this CMO Sharadindenu Reang said, in the first phase, success rate was 60 per cent where as 96 per cent success was achieved in the second phase. He said, for third phase, target has been set between 80-90 percent and residual part will be completed in January.
He identified the Longtharai Valley and Gandachhera sub-division as two most difficult and problematic areas – however he mentioned, the target for immunization programme even in difficult areas could be achieved with the co-operation and participation of Health workers and ASHA workers. The CMO urged the health workers to implement the immunization programme with dedication and sincerity.
About beneficiaries under the project, Reang said, number of infants between 0-2 years stands at 518 while that of pregnant women is 92. The CMO further said, the immunization will carried out in 131 Health Centres and Anganwadi Centres.
