Bengaluru, July 17: In a terrifying turn of events, 40 private schools across Bengaluru received a bomb threat via email on Friday, triggering widespread panic and prompting a full-scale security operation by law enforcement agencies.

The threatening email, which included a disturbing message from the alleged sender, claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside school classrooms.

Authorities responded with urgency. Police teams, bomb detection squads, and canine units were immediately deployed to the schools. As a precaution, students and staff were swiftly evacuated while security personnel conducted exhaustive searches of the premises.

The email originated from the address roadkill333@atomicmail.io and carried an ominous declaration: “Hello, I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (Trinitrotoluene) within the school classrooms.”

“I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I watch the news, only to see the parents arrive at school …

In an unhinged and deeply unsettling message written in capital letters, the sender threatened mass casualties, stating, “I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I watch the news, only to see the parents arrive at school and be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children.”

The email also included graphic language about self-harm and expressed bitterness toward mental health professionals, accusing psychiatrists and psychologists of indifference and blaming psychiatric medication for personal suffering.

The sender concluded with statements indicating suicidal intent and a sense of hopelessness, alleging that no real help had ever been received.

Schools in several areas, including RR Nagar and Kengeri, were among those that received the email. The incident caused significant anxiety among parents, many of whom rushed to campuses upon hearing the news, adding to the chaos.

This is not the first time such threats have surfaced in Bengaluru. On December 1, 2023, more than 15 private schools in the city were targeted with similar hoax emails, raising questions about digital security and emergency preparedness in educational institutions.

Officials confirmed that Friday’s threatening messages were sent to the official email IDs of the schools and were discovered when staff accessed their inboxes early in the day. Following the alert, tense scenes unfolded outside school campuses as police secured the area and began their investigations.

As of now, no explosives have been found. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the source of the email and assess its credibility.

Police have urged the public to stay calm, assuring that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure student safety.

Further updates are awaited as the situation continues to unfold. (Edited)
