Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States as “pathbreaking,” emphasizing the significance of technological cooperation between the two countries.

During a media briefing, Kwatra highlighted the discussions on advanced technology across various domains such as defense, space, and energy as one of the substantial outcomes of the visit.

The bilateral talks between Modi and President Joe Biden prominently featured the areas of technology transfer, services, and collaborative research.

Kwatra noted the exceptional warmth and hospitality extended to Prime Minister Modi by President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, emphasizing the positive sentiments that characterized the visit.

He further described the visit as “extremely rich in form and equally, if not more, rich in substance,” highlighting its path-breaking nature.

In addition, India and the United States launched joint task forces to foster public-private collaboration. These task forces focus on the development and deployment of open radio access networks (RAN) and advanced telecom research and development.

The collaboration between India’s Bharat 6G and the US Next G Alliance will play a leading role in this research.

To strengthen the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), the US-India Commercial Dialogue will introduce an “Innovation Handshake” program to connect the start-up ecosystems of both countries.

Kwatra also revealed that both nations have agreed for the United States to initiate the necessary formalities to open two new consulates in India, located in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. (Edited)
