A six-member NCERT team will conduct the second phase of ‘Vidya Pravesh Evaluation’ for Grade-I students, who have already completed the ‘Vidya Setu Module’ from 5th to 7th November, 2024. Led by Professor of the Department of Curriculum Studies & Development, Prof Vijayan K will visit Gomati, West Tripura, Sepahijala and Khowai to evaluate the improvement level of students after using ‘Vidya Setu’. The evaluation will ultimately cover all eight districts of Tripura, with Field Investigators already assigned to support the assessment.
‘Vidya Setu’ a contextualized form of the ‘Vidya Pravesh’ module of NCERT was implemented in the state for class-I students that aims to bring newly admitted class-I students into a common platform of learning level under NIPUN Tripura Mission. Implementation of Vidya Setu is an initiative of the NIPUN Tripura Mission. As students are admitted in class-I, coming from different educational backgrounds like from pre-primary schools or Anganwadi centers or private schools or by coming directly from home. So, all the different students of a common classroom need to bring into a common learning level as per NIPUN goals before starting their class-appropriate curriculum.
NIPUN Mission aims that a student before taking admission in Grade I must recognize all the alphabets, and their pronunciation, read small words under literacy and recognize numbers up to 10 under numeracy. Taking consideration of the above factor state adopted a 9-week bridge course ‘Vidya Setu’ from NCERT ‘Vidya Pravesh’, to run it from the first day of class for Grade-I students.
To find out the level of implementation of the module in the state a team from NCERT will visit Tripura for the second time from 5th to 7th November, 2024.
Earlier also ‘Vidya Pravesh Evaluation’ was conducted in the state for the same students during the month of June 2024. During the first phase of evaluation not only the students were evaluated but also the interactions were made with the teachers, parents and community members regarding the pros and cons of using ‘Vidya Setu’.
After the completion of the first phase of the evaluation process, NCERT team members were very pleased with the use of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) in the schools. Students were also found to be improved through the Vidya Setu module.
With this second phase of the Vidya Pravesh Evaluation, the total scenario regarding the implementation status of the Vidya Setu Module as well as the student’s improvement level will be clearly reflected.
