ONGC Super 30 Agartala celebrates an 86.7% success rate as 26 underprivileged students clear JEE Mains 2025. Discover how this free coaching program transforms lives in Tripura.

Agartala Apr 25: In a remarkable display of academic excellence, 26 out of 30 students from the ONGC Super 30 coaching centre in Agartala have cleared the highly competitive JEE Mains 2025, achieving an outstanding 86.7% success rate.

This milestone underscores the transformative impact of the ONGC Super 30 initiative, a free coaching program designed to uplift talented yet underprivileged students in Tripura.

The announcement of the achievement was made by Biswajit Dasgupta, Chief Project Manager of the Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), during a press conference at the Agartala Press Club on April 24.

A Beacon of Hope for Underprivileged Students

Launched in 2021 as a collaboration between Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and CSRL, the ONGC Super 30 Agartala program aims to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Tripura.

The fully residential, 11-month coaching program provides free JEE Mains preparation, equipping students with the tools to compete in one of India’s toughest engineering entrance exams.

“This phenomenal success is a testament to the relentless hard work of our students and the unwavering dedication of our faculty,” said Dasgupta.

“With this year’s results, the Agartala centre has now empowered over 100 students to pursue their dreams of studying at India’s premier engineering institutions, including NITs, IIITs, and IITs.”

“With this year’s results, the Agartala centre has now empowered over 100 students to pursue their dreams of studying at India’s premier engineering institutions, including NITs, IIITs, and IITs.”

The JEE Mains, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a gateway to prestigious engineering colleges across India. Clearing this exam also qualifies students for the JEE Advanced, the entrance test for the coveted Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Rigorous Selection and Holistic Support

The ONGC Super 30 program targets students from families with an annual income of less than Rs 2.4 lakh. The selection process is highly competitive, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates are chosen. It involves a written test followed by an academic interview, designed to identify students with exceptional potential despite financial constraints.

“We are committed to ensuring that no talent goes unrecognized due to economic barriers,” Dasgupta emphasized. “Our goal is to provide world-class coaching and a nurturing environment to help these students excel.”

Beyond academic rigor, the program focuses on holistic development. The residential setup offers a structured environment with access to:

  • Expert faculty specializing in JEE preparation
  • Psychological counseling to build resilience
  • Confidence-building workshops to enhance soft skills
  • Career guidance sessions to align aspirations with opportunities

This comprehensive approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also grow into confident, well-rounded individuals ready to tackle future challenges.

A Model of Public-Private Partnership

The success of ONGC Super 30 Agartala highlights the power of public-private partnerships in transforming education. ONGC operates similar Super 30 centres across India, including in Sivasagar (Assam), Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Jalgaon (Maharashtra), and Golaghat (Assam). Each centre is dedicated to empowering students from marginalized communities, proving that access to quality education can change lives.

Local educators, parents, and community leaders in Tripura have lauded the initiative for bringing world-class opportunities to the Northeast.

“This program is a game-changer for students who dream big but lack resources,” said a local school principal. “It’s inspiring to see such remarkable results year after year.”

Stories of Triumph

For many students, ONGC Super 30 has been a lifeline. One successful candidate, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their journey: “I come from a small village with limited means. Without this program, I could never have afforded coaching for JEE Mains. ONGC Super 30 gave me the chance to dream of becoming an engineer, and now that dream is within reach.”

Another student credited the program’s supportive environment: “The faculty believed in us even when we doubted ourselves. The counseling sessions helped me stay focused, and the mock tests prepared me for the real exam.”

These stories reflect the program’s profound impact, not only on individual lives but also on families and communities across Tripura.

A Bright Future for Tripura’s Youth

The stellar performance of ONGC Super 30 Agartala in JEE Mains 2025 sends a powerful message: with the right support, economic hardship need not stand in the way of academic excellence.

The success of these 26 students serves as a beacon of hope for thousands of aspiring engineers in Tripura and the Northeast, proving that talent, when nurtured, can overcome any obstacle.
