November 11, 2018: In a bizarre and inhuman manner of Diwali celebration, a person had burst firecrackers on the head of fellow person.
The bone-chilling incident came to light after an FIR was filed against the accused and one electronic media of Tripura – PB24 News Channel obtained exclusive details about the incident.
The Channel showed a video clip in which one Sukhu Gour – a renter of Durjoynagar under Agartala Airport Police station, fell victim to utterly disgusting manner of celebration of one Samojwal Dhar aka Butan. Police sources said, the accused is absconding and investigation on.
According to the FIR lodged at Airport police station, Sukhu Gour went to the puja ground – Arabinda Sangha Anganwadi Centre in Durjoynagar – to join Diwali celebrations on November 7 last. He sat on the ground instead of chair.
In the meantime, one neighbor Samojjal Dhar at the behest of local BJP activist Swapan Saha, put a firecracker on the head of the person sat on the ground. It may be noted Swapan Saha had recently hit news headlines for sending his mother to old age home despite having huge properties, After Samojwal lit the cracker and it burst, Sukhu Gour sustained grievous injuries on his head and eyes. He is now battling for life at GBP hospital.
Shockingly, the PB24 channel footage showed that a person (Swapan Saha) wearing black jacket was enjoying the entire incident without trying to stop Samojwal. A lady was also spotted running to the injured man in the video clip released by the news channel.
In an exclusive interview to PB24 channel, married daughter – Padmabati Gour – of the victim narrated details of bizarre incident.
Padmabati Gour said, “My father was found lying unconscious inside his room on the next day of the incident. He was rushed to local hospital. Initially, he denied revealing the truth. But, finally, we came to know about the fact.
Later, he (Sukhu Gour) also said that he had fallen sick after a person burst firecrackers on his head at the puja ground.”
She continued, “The persons involved in the incident came together to suppress the truth after we filed an FIR at Airport police station yesterday. We are also receiving threats from some influential persons of the locality. They creating pressure on us to withdraw the case and trying to lure us with the offer of bearing medical treatment cost.
However, we are not afraid of the threats – the legal battle will continue until the accused is punished.”
The woman seeking justice for her father said the persons who tried to darken the life of her father would not be spared at any cost.
When contacted, SP West Ajit Pratap Singh said, “A case has been registered against the accused under section 326 of IPC. Police already initiated a probe into the case and raided the house of the FIR named accused. But, the accused is absconding.”
