Agartala, July 01, 2019: Rail services to southern most part of Tripura – Sabroom is all set to start soon. Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Kolkata Circle, R.K. Sharma today inspected the newly laid tracks between Belonia and Sabroom under South Tripura.
A team of North East Frontier (NFR) led by the safety commissioner travelled to Sabroom railway station from Belonia (39-km stretch) in six trolleys. Sharma along with the team also inspected various facilities at Sabroom railway station. After inspection, Sharma seemed to be happy and virtually flashed a green signal for commencement of train services very soon. The Agartala-Sabroom section is a 114-km route. The work for this section was sanctioned in the year 2007.
The safety commissioner said, “Quality of the newly-laid railway tracks was in BeloniaSabroom section was up to the mark. The reports on safety inspection will soon be sent to the Ministry of Railways.” He hinted that possibilities are there that the train service might start in this section before August 15 next.
Replying to a question, the Safety Commissioner said that the works for Agartala-Akhaura rail link project was under progress and it would come to an end by 2020.
