Tripura police arrested two more persons on late Thursday (Nov 17) night in connection with a recent shooting incident in front of fast food shop at Nutan Nagar area under Airport police station in Agartala. In that shooting incident on October 25 last, two persons – Haripada Das and Sanjay Das – were injured.

According to Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sadar, Ajay Kumar Das, two persons, namely, Souradeep Kar and Prantosh Das were arrested by West Tripura Police from Chhinaihani area on late Thursday (Nov 17) night for their involvement in the shooting incident at Natun Nagar. A sophisticated pistol, a magazine and a live round were also recovered.
Earlier within few hours after the incident on October 25 last, Tripura Police arrested two persons Santosh Das and Prabhakar Ghosh.
Speaking to the media on Friday (Nov 18), SDPO Ajay Kumar Das said, Police received information on late November 18 night that the two accused persons – who remained elusive to the Police – were seen in the area. Soon, Police arrested the duo. Both the arrested persons confessed their involvement in the crime, Das said.
Commenting on the live round, the SDPO said, apparently it seems that similar bullets were used in the shooting incident on October 25 last – however, the recovered bullet would be sent to the Forensic Laboratory.
He further said, Police found more names in connection with the incident. The incident was fallout of a dispute over internal negotiation. Investigation is underway, he asserted.
Immediately after the Puja festivals, the shooting incident near Agartala created panic among the people. However, Police effectively dealt with the situation and managed to arrest two alleged culprits without delay.
SDPO of Sadar Ajay Kumar Das sounded confident about solving the incident soon.
