Agartala May 15, 2025: A powerful thunderclap during a sudden thunderstorm left eight female students from Kurti Higher Secondary Fazil Madrasa in North Tripura seriously injured on Wednesday (May 14), sending shockwaves through the local community.
Kazi Abdul Kaiyum, the acting headmaster of the madrasa, reported that a fierce storm, marked by lightning and heavy rain, swept through the Kurti-Kadamtila area.
Amid the chaos, a deafening thunderclap reverberated, causing eight students to collapse, likely overwhelmed by the intense sound and shock.
Emergency responders from Premtala Fire Service acted swiftly, transporting the affected students to Kadamtala Community Health Centre for immediate care.
Due to the severity of their conditions, the students were later transferred to Dharmanagar District Hospital for specialized treatment.

The injured students were identified as Marufa Begum, Ruma Begum, Tamanna Ferdous, Jamila Begum, Sajida Yasmin, Sohana Akhtar, Somania Begum, and Soma Begum.
Officers from Kadamtala Police Station visited the health centre to assess the situation and have launched a detailed investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The alarming event has left residents of the greater Kadamtala area shaken, with many expressing concern for the students’ recovery and the safety of others during such unpredictable weather events.
