Agartala, January 19, 2020: Jawans of Assam Rifles coordinated with PHCs and organized ‘Pulse Polio Immunization’ programme in remote villages of Tripura. Children under five years of age with their mothers from remote villages were provided transport and escorted to the PHCs for the vaccination. The administering of oral vaccine to children extended the reach of the national effort in eradicating polio from the country.

The active involvement of Assam Rifles in extending the government programme was appreciated by the PHCs as it assisted them in administering the dosage to maximum possible children. A total of 714 children was ferried from remote villages for the oral vaccine.
Pulse polio immunization drive was also conducted in Assam Rifles hospitals at Kunjaban, Udaipur and Radhanagar, a total of 288 children was administered the polio vaccine in Assam Rifle hospitals.
