As many as 2,04,355 paddy growers have been covered under Mukhyamantri Fasal Bima Yojana during Kharif (2020) season in Tripura and total 2800 farmers have got compensation of worth Rs 41 lakh 27 thousand, so far.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said this on Friday and added, “It’s a big achievement for a small state like Tripura.”
Referring to Atmanirbhar Bharat Scheme, Singha Roy said, as many as 1,45,257 farmers of Tripura have applied for Agri loan, so far and an amount of Rs. 226.78 crore has already been sanctioned for 70,316 farmers.
Among them, 44,824 farmers have already received loan of total Rs. 143.95 crore, Singha Roy told Media at civil secretariat on Friday.
The Tripura Agriculture minister said the state government is working in tandem with the Central Government to ensure short-term as well as long term benefits of farming community. As part of such initiatives, the Central Government has allocated Rs 360 crore to State under Agri Infrastructure Development Fund. Notably, this fund would utilized for development of markets warehouses, Cold chains, pack houses etc.
Besides, the State Government has taken initiative to set up at least one Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs) in all the 58 blocks. Each FPO, with at least 100 farmers associated with it, will get several Government assistances. While the State Government has formed concerned Committees, NABARD/NCDC/SFAC will also help to expedite the process of FPO formation.
The Minister also talked about several other steps including Agri-input management like distribution of seeds, fertilizers etc., setting up of Krishak Bandhu Kendra, PM Kishan Samman Nidhi. Pranajit Singha Roy also detailed about steps taken for development of Organic farming.
Talking about Organic farming, the Agriculture Minister said, total 6788 farmers have been registered for Organic farming in different clusters across the State. Under organic farming, cultivators are growing scented paddy, ginger, turmeric, pineapple etc.
