Tripura Gramin Bank observed it’s 48th Foundation Day on Thursday. An event was organised to mark the day.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, alongside Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and key officials from the Bank Regulatory Authority.
Held at Sukanta Academy in Agartala, the event highlighted the Tripura Gramin Bank’s (TGB’s) pivotal role in the state’s development through an expansive credit delivery camp, facilitating loans under diverse schemes.
In his inaugural speech, Ratan Lal Nath emphasized the transformative shift in banking dynamics since the formation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, noting the evolution of banks from exclusive havens for the affluent to inclusive institutions benefitting the weaker sections and women.
He lauded Tripura Gramin Bank’s pioneering efforts in executing government programs, particularly citing the substantial impact on SHG group members with accounts and loans accessible through various schemes.
Underlining the bank’s progress, Minister Nath spotlighted its remarkable growth from 5 branches at inception to an impressive network of 150 branches and a significant increase in ATMs, aligning with the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
He highlighted the surge in bank deposits across Tripura, rising from Rs 24,580 crores to an impressive Rs 37,432 crores in recent times, showcasing substantial economic advancement.
Acknowledging Tripura’s notable position in the northeastern region in terms of Credit-Deposit ratio, the Minister urged the bank to intensify efforts in expediting lending operations, urging a more proactive stance in disbursing future loans to aid the populace.

Tripura Gramin Bank officials highlighted Bank’s paramount role since its establishment in 1976, emphasizing its commitment to delivering banking services to rural communities.
They underscored the bank’s collaboration with state departments in providing varied services, encompassing social allowances, Rega wages, and more.
As part of today’s event, a credit delivery camp was held and loans were disbursed under multiple programs including TRLM, NULM, Swabalamban, Mudra Loan, and PMSGP.
Besides, the bank is actively involved in various initiatives such as KCC projects for young individuals and support for the Department of Animal Husbandry.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, who was also present in today’s event, commended Tripura Gramin Bank’s crucial role in advancing the state’s economic landscape, underscoring its significant contribution to development initiatives.
