Union MoS for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje stressed on the need to create a separate cell to deal with the task of promoting the agricultural products of Tripura.

 

Attending a review meeting with Agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy and officials of the concerned department at the State Guest House on Thursday, the MoS discussed the necessity of creating a separate cell in the Industry department to promote agri- products and translate agriculture into more of an agri-business. She said the central government is extending all possible assistance to make Tripura Atma Nirbhar in agriculture.

 

Notably, Shobha Karandlaje arrived on a two-day State visit on Wednesday (October 27, 2021). She also met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday and held elaborate discussions on several issues pertaining to the growth of Agri-sector in Tripura.

 

After reviewing the implementation status of central schemes and steps taken to double farmers earnings, Minister Shobha Karandlaje  said, Tripura in tandem with the central government is proactively working to transform its agriculture.

 

The Union Minister of State has also assured of extending all necessary support to Tripura for doubling the farmers’ income as well as transforming the state Atmanirbhar in Agriculture.

 

The Agriculture minister in a social media post wrote, “Took part in an excellent and productive Review Meeting on Agriculture along with Union MoS for Agri Smt Shobha KarandlajeJi and other officials. Our priority areas are – overall reforms in the agriculture sector, speedy implementation of Gov’t schemes & doubling Farmers’ income.”

 

In a separate post, he commented that the Union Minister of State had expressed satisfaction over the growth achieved by the state in the Agriculture sector.

 

As part of her Tripura visit, the Union Minister of State also inaugurated a swimming pool at the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra.

 

She said the pool would draw the youngsters to take up the aerobic sport and groom young talents. She appreciated the initiatives taken by Vice-Chancellor of Central Agriculture University, Imphal- Dr.Anupam Mishra to tap the talents of youth.

 

In the programme, she was accompanied by Union Minister of State from Tripura- PratimaBhowmik, state minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia, the VC of Central Agriculture University and many others.
