The mortal remains of Naik Shubhankar Bhowmik, a martyred soldier of the Indian Army at the Siachen border, arrived at the MBB Airport on Wednesday evening. Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu paid his respects by placing a wreath on the body of the martyred Shubhankar Bhowmik.

The Governor expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of the martyred Shubhankar Bhowmik. While speaking to the media, the Governor said that Naik Shubhankar Bhowmik of the Indian Army was martyred while on duty at the Siachen border.

Siachen-Martyr-Subhankar-BhowmikChief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha also paid his last respects today to Indian Army soldier Subhankar Bhowmik, who made the supreme sacrifice at Siachen.

Dr. Saha also announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the family of the martyred soldier.

The mortal remains of Subhankar Bhowmik, a resident of Birganj area in Amarpur under the Gomati District of Tripura, were brought to Agartala.

Upon arrival at MBB Airport, Dr. Saha, along with Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, paid tribute by laying wreaths on the soldier’s body.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Saha said, “Our son from Tripura, Subhankar Bhowmik, made the ultimate sacrifice at Siachen on Monday after a massive avalanche struck. Unfortunately, the incident occurred at night, making an immediate rescue operation impossible. He was found the next morning but had already passed away. This is a deeply painful incident. He leaves behind a young daughter and his wife.

“Subhankar gave his life while safeguarding the nation. The state government will provide all necessary support to the family. Additionally, I will extend personal assistance to them as well”, Dr Saha said.

DIG of Tripura Police Manchak Ippar, Superintendent of Police of West Tripura District Dr. Kiran Kumar K, and army officials paid their respects by placing wreaths on the mortal remains of martyred Shubhankar Bhowmik.
