Agartala, Mar 2: Hard to believe as a startling incident surfaced in Agartala after a family discovered that their son’s newly-wed “bride” was biologically male.
The revelation shocked relatives and neighbours alike.
According to family members, the couple remained in a relationship for nearly six years. Eventually, they eloped and got married.
Local media reported, throughout this period, the ‘bride’ Nayan Das identified himself as a woman and allegedly introduced as Isha Das.
However, the groom reportedly had no idea about the biological identity of his partner till groom’s family found the real identity of the so called bride.
Soon after the truth emerged, tension gripped the locality. Consequently, many people gathered outside the couple’s residence.
The groom’s family accused Nayan of deception. They claimed he misled their son by concealing his gender identity. As a result, the matter drew widespread public attention.
Allegations of Deceit and Financial Dispute
Family members further alleged that money exchanged hands during the relationship.
They claimed their son provided significant financial assistance over the years. According to them, this financial involvement added to their distress.

Meanwhile, Nayan Das, a resident of Camperbazar, defended his actions. He admitted that he hid his biological identity.
However, he said love motivated his decision. Das claimed he feared losing the person he wanted to marry.
“I could not repay the money he gave me,” Nayan said. “But our relationship was not only about financial help. I was always there for him when he needed me.”
When asked about his family, Nayan said his parents knew that he had left home. He stated that he informed them about his decision to live with the person he loved. Das also identified his parents as Sukdeb Das and Monti Das of Camperbazar.
At present, the incident continues to spark debate in the area. However, it remains unclear whether the groom’s family has filed any formal complaint.
