TGB Honoured at National Rural Development Conclave

Agartala/Hyderabad, Feb 21: In a significant achievement for the State, Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) has been honoured with the National Award for Outstanding Performance in Self-Help Group (SHG) Bank Linkage for the year 2024–25.

The recognition was conferred during the 25th National Conclave hosted by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

The award ceremony was presided over by Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry, representatives of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs), and other dignitaries from across the country.

Strengthening the SHG Movement

The national accolade acknowledges TGB’s sustained efforts in expanding and deepening SHG–Bank linkage initiatives under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY–NRLM). The Bank has played a crucial role in supporting women-led livelihood activities and advancing financial inclusion across rural Tripura.

Officials described the award as a reflection of the strong institutional collaboration between the banking sector and rural development agencies in the state. The honour has been dedicated to the continued support of the state administration and the close partnership between TGB and the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).

Robust TRLM–TGB Collaboration

TRLM has been instrumental in organizing rural households into SHGs, nurturing grassroots community institutions, and facilitating smooth access to formal banking services. As a key financial partner, Tripura Gramin Bank has extended structured credit support to SHGs through progressive loan slabs of ₹1.50 lakh, ₹3.00 lakh, and ₹6.00 lakh, backed by a rational interest framework.

As of February 16, 2026, the Bank has sanctioned loans amounting to ₹557.93 crore during the financial year 2025–26 under SHG and livelihood financing. This substantial credit flow underscores the Bank’s firm commitment to empowering rural communities and strengthening women’s economic participation.

Adding further momentum to women entrepreneurship, TGB has introduced the ‘Adwitiya Scheme’, which offers individual enterprise loans ranging from ₹0.75 lakh to ₹5.00 lakh at competitive interest rates. The scheme is aimed at encouraging sustainable income-generating activities among women under the TRLM umbrella.

Acknowledging Leadership and Support

Tripura Gramin Bank expressed appreciation for the guidance and leadership of Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of TRLM, and Dipayan Ghosh, Chief Operating Officer of TRLM, whose strategic direction and coordination have been pivotal to the Bank’s success in SHG financing.
