Taking to Facebook, Dr. Saha expressed his delight over meeting the Prime Minister, writing, “I was truly pleased to meet Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji in New Delhi today.”

He further stated, “Under his visionary leadership, our government is committed to realizing the goal of ‘Viksit Tripura, Viksit Bharat.’ I apprised him of the state’s development progress and sought his kind support on several crucial issues.”

During the meeting, Dr. Saha highlighted the importance of inclusion of the Bru-Reang community under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and requested an increase in wheat allocation for the state under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The Chief Minister also raised several infrastructure and development-related proposals, including the double-laning of the railway track in Tripura, introduction of a Vande Bharat train between Agartala and Guwahati, enhancement of the ceiling limit for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs), and the establishment of an Agar Board along with a research centre.

He further sought the Centre’s support for the creation of 15 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and urged the declaration of Unakoti as a Sustainable Development Heritage Site.

Earlier on Tuesday (October 14), Dr. Saha held a separate meeting with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda in New Delhi.

The two discussed a range of issues related to the state’s health infrastructure and future projects, including the proposal for setting up a new medical college in Tripura.

A senior official from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) informed that Dr. Saha briefed the Union Minister about the state government’s plan to establish a new medical college at Kulai in Dhalai district — one of Tripura’s aspirational districts — under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
