The tribal wing of CPM Tripura Unit, Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) has raised objection on BJP-led State Government’s decision relating to ad hoc promotion to its employees even as a verdict on the Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court filed by the previous Left Front Government is pending.
Speaking to media after the Central Committee meeting of GMP in Agartala on Wednesday, Jitendra Choudhury urged the Government to take a decision on this contentious issue after the Apex Court gives a verdict. Choudhury also raised question as to why the Mid Meal Scheme remained suspended during Covid induced closure of schools.
On the issue of ad hoc promotion, Choudhury termed the decision as ‘completely unconstitutional’ and against the ‘interests of SC/ST’ employees. According the leader, the decision is against the spirit and purposes of reservation.
He said, “GMP is vehemently opposing the Cabinet Decision of the State Government taken on June 22 last in which Government ad hoc promotion for Government employees”.
Choudhury also claimed that the decision was taken ignoring the Supreme Court verdict of maintaining status quo on the SLP filed by the previous Left Front Government.
Pointing at the issue of ad hoc promotion, Choudhury, without naming, took a jibe at other indigenous parties for maintaining silence. He lamented, it is irony that other Tiprasa parties who claim to be champions of the indigenous people of the State and are doing politics cashing the emotion of indigenous people, are not come forward with their views of the Government decision of ad hoc promotion.
Demanding to stop the implementation of this decision, Choudhury urged the Government to wait for the Supreme Court verdict. He also suggested the Government to take step to expedite the process in the Supreme Court.
