Tripura Government is planning in a big way to ensure livelihood of indigenous people by introducing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) facilities for broom sticks and other products available in Tripura Forests.
“In an attempt to ensure livelihood of the indigenous people through forest resources, steps have been taken to introduce MSPs for Forest products, like the broom sticks. This will open a door for the indigenous people of the State to earn a sustainable living”, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said in a social media post.
Deb also said that the Government initiated steps to provide assistance in activities like agriculture to the Patta holders.
The Chief Minister pointed out, the government is implementing multiple schemes in different sectors including education, health and drinking water for the socio-economic and cultural improvement of the indigenous people.
Deb revealed about the plan of the Government relating to forest products and MSP while speaking at the inaugural programme of 24X7 healthcare services at Hezamara Primary Health Centre (PHC) in West Tripura on Thursday.
During the inaugural programme, he felicitated Sampatti Debbarma who donated land for the PHC.
According to a Government press release, with inauguration of the 24×7 healthcare services, the Health and Wellness Centre would provide twelve emergency services including delivery, family planning and mental health.
The 10-bed PHC functioning under Hezamara block covers the people of six sub health centres and six ADC villages.
MLA Brishaketu Debbarma, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, District Magistrate, Westtripura- Debapriya Bardhan and Director of Family Welfare Dr. Radha Debbarma were also present in the inaugural ceremony.
In his speech, Deb referred to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, the 185th King of Tripura and said, the Maharaja dreamt to build a developed Tripura. The State Government is implementing various welfare schemes to realize the dream of the Maharaja.
“Agartala airport has been renamed after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, the Tribal Welfare department has been renamed as Janajati Welfare department and Barmura has been renamed as Hatai Kotor,” the Chief Minister said.
Pointing the State Government’s stress on transparency in implementation of projects, Deb said, the people are now getting benefits of various schemes of the state and central governments without wasting time in party offices and local elected representatives rather the public representatives and the officers are now reaching out to the last man of the society with the benefits of various schemes.
He lashed out at the previous government and alleged, previous government did not make sincere efforts for the development of indigenous communities. However, Deb continued, the incumbent government is committed to the holistic development of the indigenous people of the State.
