In an unprecedented move, the Tripura government is preparing an action plan for the next 25 years to take the state’s progress to new heights.
While addressing a programme in Agartala on Tuesday, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, “The matter already came up for discussion in the cabinet meeting. Our vision is not limited to only five years. We are thinking for the next 25 years till 2048 to build a prosperous Tripura for the young generation.”
Previous government had no plan for future – however, we are making a detailed action plan so that youths of the State can take decisions about their future actions, he said and added, I have suggested to include several parameters in the planning like who would implement a particular activity, target date setting etc.
Detailing further, Deb said the action plan would include many issues – one of the most important issues is that the state government would focus more on women empowerment through formation of new Self Help Groups and enhancing their activities.
“Every woman will be approached for formation of the SHGs. Empowerment of womenfolk can help the rural society to prosper which will act an catalyst for the overall development of the State”, he commented.
He hinted that a target would be set to cover the women in every household under such Self Help Groups for their financial growth.
According to the Chief Minister, the Self Help Groups created a Rs. 1000-crore economy in a major boost to the state’s financial progress.
On another note, the Chief Minister mentioned about the dilly-dallying attitude of employees and others. He, however, pointed out that the attitude developed among the people due to the system that the previous governments adopted.
“The issue of attitude is creating several problems in the State and it is impossible to change it within 3-4 years. However, some progress to this end is already visible and gradually it will improve further”, he asserted.
