The facility marks an infrastructure upgrade for nursing education and training in Tripura. Bringing the three institutions together under one roof will provide a shared institutional setting for nursing education.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Manik Saha said healthcare remains a fundamental public need. He stressed that a healthy population forms the foundation of a healthy and vibrant society.

The Chief Minister said the government is working to provide modern, quality healthcare services to people across the state. He emphasised that residents of remote areas must receive the same attention as those living in urban centres.

New Building Planned for Narsingar PHC

During the programme, Dr Saha laid the foundation stone for a new building at Narsingar Primary Health Centre. He said the government would ensure that construction progresses quickly.

The Chief Minister said the state government is implementing development projects transparently and within stipulated deadlines. These initiatives include improvements to healthcare infrastructure and the expansion of public health services.

He added that people across Tripura have long aspired to receive better services in healthcare and other essential sectors. The government, he said, is working systematically to fulfil those expectations and improve public welfare.

Government Focuses on Healthcare in Remote Areas

Dr Saha said the government’s healthcare policy aims to serve all sections of society, including children, senior citizens and economically weaker families. He stressed that access to government health services should not depend on whether a person lives in a town or a remote location.

To achieve this goal, the government is developing modern infrastructure at primary health centres in remote areas. It is also working to improve the overall quality of the state’s healthcare system and extend the reach of medical services.

The Chief Minister highlighted the expansion of patient bed capacity in district hospitals across Tripura. He also said outpatient department (OPD) services have grown across the state’s main referral hospital, district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

According to Dr Saha, these measures have brought significant changes to the state’s healthcare sector. The government aims to strengthen existing facilities while expanding access to treatment.

Medical Education and Specialised Healthcare Expand

The Chief Minister acknowledged that Tripura’s healthcare system faced several shortcomings in the past. He said the government is now pursuing planned measures to modernise major referral hospitals and strengthen specialised medical facilities.

These initiatives include the establishment of dental colleges and hospitals, eye hospitals, homoeopathic colleges and hospitals, and Ayurvedic colleges and hospitals. The government has also opened an eye hospital to improve eye care services in the state.

Dr Saha said the state has expanded opportunities for nursing education as well. He highlighted the availability of 550 MBBS seats across government and private institutions in Tripura.
