Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha placed healthcare at the centre of a high-level Task Monitoring System meeting on Monday. He reviewed district hospital services, disease control measures and primary healthcare delivery while also assessing education, social security and development projects across the state.
Agartala, July 13: Healthcare emerged as the top priority during a high-level Task Monitoring System meeting chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday. The Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of district hospitals, examined disease control efforts and directed officials to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.
The meeting, held through video conferencing from Conference Hall No. 2 of the State Secretariat, brought together district administrations and senior officials from multiple government departments. Besides healthcare, the Chief Minister also reviewed education, social welfare, tourism and ongoing development projects.
CM Reviews District Healthcare Services
Dr. Saha sought detailed updates on the condition of district hospitals and assessed the availability of essential medical services.
He paid special attention to the functioning of the paediatric department at Kumarghat Hospital. The Chief Minister instructed the Health Department to ensure that the department continues to operate smoothly and without interruption.
He also reviewed the performance of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the state. He directed officials to make sure that basic healthcare services remain accessible to people living in rural and remote areas.
The review reflected the government’s continued focus on improving public healthcare infrastructure and strengthening healthcare delivery at every level.
Malaria and Non-Communicable Diseases Receive Attention
The Chief Minister reviewed the latest health situation in Dhalai district, where officials briefed him on malaria cases and the status of non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Saha stressed the importance of preventive healthcare. He asked the Health Department to intensify awareness campaigns so that people understand the risks, symptoms and preventive measures related to these diseases.
He said public awareness remains one of the most effective tools in reducing disease burden and improving community health outcomes.
Officials were also instructed to continue monitoring disease trends and respond quickly whenever necessary.
Public Awareness Key to Better Welfare Delivery
While healthcare dominated the discussions, the Chief Minister also underlined the importance of public participation in government programmes.
He said welfare schemes produce better results when citizens understand their benefits and actively participate in them.
Dr. Saha asked every district administration and government department to communicate development initiatives more effectively to the public. He said greater awareness would improve the reach and impact of government programmes.
He also urged officials at every administrative level to maintain regular contact with local communities and address public concerns promptly.
Departments Asked to Work in Coordination
The Chief Minister highlighted the need for stronger coordination among government departments.
He said the district administration, security agencies, health, education and other departments must work together to improve governance and service delivery.
According to him, close coordination would help departments resolve issues faster and ensure that development programmes benefit people without unnecessary delays.
He also instructed officials to place public interest at the centre of every development project.
Dr. Saha said infrastructure projects should not create avoidable inconvenience for residents. He directed departments to follow prescribed guidelines while implementing development works.
Education and Social Security Also Reviewed
The meeting also included a review of the education sector.
The Chief Minister assessed the academic environment in schools, classroom teaching standards and the implementation of the Mid-Day Meal programme.
He directed education officials to maintain quality in all three areas so that students continue to receive better educational support.
Dr. Saha also reviewed the implementation of social security schemes.
He instructed the concerned departments to ensure that beneficiaries receive their allowances on time without administrative delays.
Timely disbursement of financial assistance, he said, remains essential for supporting vulnerable sections of society.
Tourism Maintenance Comes Under Review
The Chief Minister also reviewed the maintenance of tourist destinations across Tripura.
He asked District Magistrates to carry out regular inspections and monitoring to ensure that tourist centres remain clean, attractive and visitor-friendly.
He said well-maintained tourist destinations contribute to the state’s image and support tourism growth.
Government Stresses People-Centric Administration
The meeting reflected the government’s broader approach of combining development with efficient public service delivery.

Dr. Saha reiterated that the ultimate objective of every welfare programme is the overall development of the people.
He called upon officials to strengthen public engagement, improve coordination among departments and ensure that government services reach citizens efficiently.
The Task Monitoring System meeting concluded with directions to departments to closely monitor the implementation of welfare schemes and maintain accountability at every administrative level.
Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, secretaries of various departments, the Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department and senior government officials participated in the review meeting.
