Tripura Staff Selection Commission planned

Chowdhury said Tripura already has the Tripura Public Service Commission and the Joint Recruitment Board. Some departments also conduct recruitment separately.
The proposed commission will create another institutional mechanism for recruitment to the specified categories.
The minister said the commission is intended to improve transparency and speed up recruitment.
He explained that the Tripura Public Service Commission generally handles recruitment for higher-level posts. The proposed Staff Selection Commission will focus on Group B, C and D positions.
The detailed structure of the commission has not yet been outlined in the press conference. Chowdhury said its hierarchy, rules and working system will be discussed during implementation.

Minister responds to unemployment protests
During the press conference, Chowdhury also responded to questions about protests by unemployed youths over recruitment.
He said unemployment remains a wider issue and that unemployed people have the right to seek jobs.
At the same time, he stressed that government recruitment must follow established rules and procedures.
The minister said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has repeatedly stated that recruitment remains in the pipeline.
According to Chowdhury, different recruitment bodies are already handling appointments. These include the Tripura Public Service Commission and the Joint Recruitment Board.
He said the proposed Staff Selection Commission could help speed up the process.
Chowdhury also rejected the idea of using unemployed youths for political gains. He referred to the earlier 10,323 teacher recruitment issue in Tripura and said the government wants to avoid a repeat of that environment.
He maintained that future recruitment will follow established procedures and maintain transparency.

Sugar supply gap linked to subsidy issue
The minister also addressed concerns over regular sugar availability through ration shops.
He clarified that the newly announced sugar allocation is a special free distribution for the Puja season.
He acknowledged a gap in regular sugar supply.
According to Chowdhury, the disruption involved a technical issue related to subsidy discussions with the Central Government.
He said the government will discuss the issue and work to normalise the regular supply.
