Agartala, August 17: Tripura has stepped up its startup push with the launch of the T-RISE (Tripura Registry & Integration for Startup Ecosystem) Portal.
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, launched the platform at a workshop titled “Building a Unicorn in Tripura” at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.
The event was organised in collaboration with T-Hub, Hyderabad, a major startup innovation and acceleration platform.
The initiative aims to help entrepreneurs build scalable and globally competitive companies from the state. A unicorn is a privately held startup valued at more than US$1 billion.
The launch marks a new phase in Tripura’s effort to strengthen its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
T-RISE Creates Single-Window Startup Platform
The T-RISE Portal will bring key stakeholders onto one digital platform.
These include startups, entrepreneurs, incubators, mentors, investors, academic institutions and government departments.
The portal will provide access to a growing network of more than 20 mentors, 10 investors and 10 corporates. It will also connect entrepreneurs with incubators and domain experts.
Support will cover areas such as technology, finance, marketing, legal services and business strategy.
The platform will also connect Tripura’s professional community across the world. This includes technology leaders, entrepreneurs and experts with roots in the state.
The government expects this network to help local startups access knowledge, investment and wider markets.
₹22.72 Crore Support Extended to Startups
Tripura has also reported progress under its New Sector-Agnostic Tripura Startup Policy.
Since the policy was launched, the state has received more than 185 startup applications. Authorities have approved 140 registrations and recognised 10 startups.
Financial assistance of more than ₹22.72 crore has already reached entrepreneurs.
The support has come through the Tri-Seed Fund, Proof of Concept (PoC) assistance and operational support.
These measures aim to help entrepreneurs test ideas, develop products and move towards commercialisation.
T-NEST and T-Hub Strengthen Startup Ecosystem
The government has established T-NEST, a state-level incubation centre at the International Business Centre in Hapania.
The centre is designed to provide incubation, mentorship, technical guidance and market linkages.
DIT has also partnered with T-Hub as a knowledge partner. The collaboration brings accelerator programmes, expertise and wider networks to Tripura’s startup ecosystem.
At the Agartala workshop, T-Hub experts conducted mentoring sessions on innovation management, business scaling, fundraising and market expansion.
The sessions focused on the practical challenges faced by startups as they move beyond the early stage.
HDFC Bank, Amazon and Zoho Join Startup Push
Another major development was the exchange of strategic MoUs with HDFC Bank Limited, Amazon Seller Services Private Limited and Zoho Corporation Private Limited.
The partnerships are expected to expand the range of services available to startups.
HDFC Bank will support access to specialised financial products and related services. Amazon will provide opportunities linked to e-commerce and exports.

Zoho will bring digital business solutions and technology support.
The collaborations will also facilitate mentorship, technical advisory services and capacity-building programmes.
Together, these partnerships could help startups improve their ability to compete in national and international markets.
Skyroot Aerospace Inspires Tripura Entrepreneurs
The workshop also featured an interaction with Tejaswi Bhagavatala, Vice-President of Skyroot Aerospace, along with other successful startup founders.
Skyroot Aerospace’s growth story provided an example of how Indian technology startups can develop products for global markets.
The company has emerged as a major player in India’s private space sector. Its journey was highlighted to encourage Tripura’s entrepreneurs to pursue ambitious, technology-driven ventures.
The mentoring sessions also stressed the importance of innovation, fundraising, market expansion and long-term business planning.
Government Seeks to Build Startup Hub in Tripura
The workshop brought together government officials, investors, startup founders, industry representatives and members of academia.
Minister for Information Technology, Finance, Planning and Coordination Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the programme.
Secretary to the Chief Minister for Good Governance Kiran Gitte, IT and Finance Secretary Dr P. K. Goyal, and Director of Information Technology Jeya Ragul Geshan B were also present.
The government said its startup strategy supports the national focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and employment generation.
