Candidates who cleared the 2024 Tripura Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) met Tripura Teachers Recruitment Board (TRBT) Chairman Pratyush Ranjan Deb at Shiksha Bhavan on Monday. They demanded the early publication of the merit list and speedy completion of the teacher recruitment process.
The candidates said their document verification was completed in March 2026. However, nearly seven months later, TRBT has yet to publish the merit list.
Candidates Seek Solution to Legal Hurdles
During the meeting, the chairman reportedly told the candidates that several court cases involving Graduate Teacher (GT) and Under Graduate Teacher (UGT) candidates had delayed the process.
The candidates urged TRBT to find a way to move forward while complying with court directions.
According to them, Deb said officials were consulting the Law Secretary and other senior authorities to find a solution.
The candidates, however, questioned whether cases related to the 2024 TET examination should hold up a separate recruitment process.
Recruitment Notification Issued in 2026
The candidates pointed out that the 2024 TET examination and the recruitment notification issued on February 21, 2026, are separate matters.
The 2026 notification covered 1,036 UGT posts and 1,020 GT posts, according to the candidates.
They said the pending cases mainly concern issues linked to the 2024 TET examination, including the question paper and issuance of TET certificates.
They argued that no court order has been brought to their notice that specifically prevents TRBT from publishing the recruitment merit list.
The candidates said they also consulted advocates, who told them that TRBT could publish the merit list unless a specific court order barred it.
Candidates Cite Four Certificate Cases
The candidates referred to four cases in which court directions reportedly required the authorities to issue TET certificates and consider the concerned candidates for inclusion in the merit list.
They said certificates have already been issued in three cases. One candidate is still awaiting a certificate.
According to the candidates, the court has directed the authorities to issue the remaining certificate and include that candidate in the merit list.
They maintained that no similar direction requires the entire merit list to remain pending.
1,856 Candidates Await Recruitment
The candidates said 1,856 people are currently awaiting the recruitment process. Their figures include 368 UGT candidates and 1,456 GT candidates.
They said the prolonged delay has created uncertainty among candidates who have already cleared TET and completed document verification.
Demand for Early Recruitment
The candidates urged the state government and TRBT to resolve any remaining legal issues quickly.
They also called for the merit list to be published without further delay if there is no legal restriction against its release.
