Tipra Motha workers withdrew their road blockade on the Udaipur-Amarpur road on Tuesday after police detained two persons in connection with the firing at a Tipra Motha candidate in Gamaria under Gomati district.
The blockade began at around 9:45 am. It disrupted traffic movement on the important road as party workers demanded action against those accused of carrying out the attack.

According to Debbarma, police informed the party that they had detained two persons in connection with the firing. However, he said the alleged mastermind, whom the police had already identified, remained at large.
Debbarma said the party had issued a fresh 72-hour deadline for police to arrest the remaining accused.
He warned that Tipra Motha would resume its protests if the police failed to make the arrests. He also said the next phase of the agitation would not remain confined to Gamaria.
“If the remaining accused are not arrested, our protests will resume,” Debbarma said, adding that party workers across Tripura would take to the streets.
Police Confirm Two Detentions
IG Ipper Manchak said the authorities had taken precautionary measures in the area following the incident.
“Two cases have been registered and investigation is being carried out in both the cases. The investigation shall proceed in its due course,” he said.
SDPO Udaipur Debanjali Roy confirmed that police had detained two persons for interrogation.
“The situation is now under control. The blockade has been withdrawn,” she said.
