Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has announced two significant steps towards implementing the Tripura Accord, focusing on education and land rights in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). While one notification concerns the development of quality residential schools, the other establishes a committee to examine land rights issues. The committee must submit its recommendations within one month. The findings will then go to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, for further action.
In a Facebook Live address ahead of Diwali, Pradyot Kishore explained the two decisions and appealed to people across communities to remain united. He said his priority was to secure the rights of indigenous people, improve educational opportunities and accelerate development of Tripura without harming the interests of other communities.
He also dismissed criticism of his work and said his commitment to Tripura extended beyond electoral politics and party affiliations.
Two Notifications Focus on Education and Land Rights
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said he had issued two notifications within a short interval. The announcements followed discussions with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and the Government of India on key development issues in ADC areas.
Explaining the first notification, he said the initiative aims to improve educational outcomes through quality residential schools.
He said the discussions covered the infrastructure required to establish these institutions and provide better educational facilities to students in ADC areas.
The proposed schools will focus on quality education, including English, Kokborok and Hindi. The initiative seeks to strengthen the education system and provide students with better learning opportunities.
Pradyot Kishore said the residential school initiative formed part of the Tripura Accord. He added that an understanding had already been reached on the matter.
Land Rights Committee to Submit Report Within One Month
The second notification addresses land rights, an issue that Pradyot described as an important step towards implementing the Tripura Accord.
He said several people questioned the status of land rights after he announced the first notification. Responding to those concerns, he clarified that he had issued the second notification shortly afterwards.
The notification provides for a new committee to examine land rights issues and recommend the next steps. The committee will submit its report within one month.
Pradyot Kishore said the government would take the recommendations to the Ministry of Home Affairs for further consideration.
He stressed that the process must protect the rights of indigenous people in Tripura. At the same time, he made it clear that people belonging to the general community and living in ADC areas must not lose their existing rights.
“This will be a major step towards land rights. A committee has now been formed to examine how we can take this issue forward,” he said.
He described the notification as an initial but important move towards addressing the land rights question.
About His Commitment to Indigenous People
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma also responded to those who had questioned his commitment to the cause of indigenous people.
He said he wanted to work for the empowerment of Tripura’s indigenous communities even without holding political office or seeking political support.

Debbarma specifically stated that his commitment did not depend on raising the slogan of Tipra Motha.
“I am no longer in politics. Even without doing politics or saying ‘Tipra Motha Zindabad’, I want to work towards the empowerment of the indigenous people,” he said.
He added that he had published both notifications on his Facebook, Instagram and X accounts.
Pradyot Kishore said his objective was to secure a better future for the next generation. He criticised attempts to create unnecessary communal divisions for political purposes and said such activities would obstruct the state’s progress.
Pradyot Kishore Appeals for Unity and Communal Harmony
A major part of his Diwali address focused on unity, mutual trust and communal harmony.
Pradyot Kishore said people must overcome suspicion and mistrust to build a stronger society. He argued that the victory of good over evil would have real meaning only when people defeated negative tendencies within themselves.
“Until we start loving each other, we will never progress in life,” he said.
He also responded to criticism over his use of the word “friends” while addressing people. Debbarma maintained that friendship was universal and should not become a subject of political division.
He urged people not to divide society based on political affiliations or party identities.
Describing Tripura as a small state, Pradyot Kishore said its people must remain united to achieve meaningful development.
“We must remain united. If we stay together, we will win. Political parties and their flags may divide us, but such divisions will not bring us anything,” he said.
Better Education, Employment and Land Rights Are Priorities
Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said development must remain the central priority for Tripura. He identified better education, employment opportunities and land rights as essential elements of a secure future.
He argued that communal harmony and peace would create the conditions necessary for economic progress.
According to him, development should improve people’s lives and reduce their dependence on political representatives and government officials for basic assistance.
Debbarma expressed hope that people would no longer need to stand in queues outside the residences of MLAs, MDCs, ministers and officials to get their work done.
He said a developed Tripura should provide people with better opportunities and enable them to build their futures independently.
Tripura Accord Implementation Must Protect All Communities
Concluding his address, Pradyot Kishore reiterated his commitment to the gradual implementation of the Tripura Accord.
He said the process might take time but would require complete commitment. Pradyot Kishore also emphasised that implementation should not cause hardship or deprive any community of its rights.
He called for unity not only in politics but also in society, friendships and relationships among people.
“Thansa means unity. It is not just about politics. It is about unity in society, friendship and treating each other as brothers and sisters,” he said.
