Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath chaired a third meeting with Tipra Motha Party at the State Guest House in Agartala today, on September 20. The meeting centred on election-related coordination, possible joint campaigning and ways to collectively address problems that may emerge during the electoral process.
The discussions come as the alliance partners intensify their preparations for the Village Committee polls. Rather than adopting one campaign formula across the state, the partners discussed a flexible approach based on the requirements of individual areas.
Local conditions to determine joint campaigning
Nath said joint campaigning would not be required in every area. The alliance partners would assess the local situation before deciding where and how they should campaign together.
The approach is aimed at allowing the partners to respond to the specific political and organisational conditions of different areas.
According to Nath, the meeting examined the possibility of conducting joint campaigns at the local level. The discussions also focused on strengthening coordination among the NDA partners during the election campaign.
The minister indicated that the alliance would use local circumstances as the basis for deciding its campaign strategy instead of applying a uniform model everywhere.
Direct voter contact gets priority
Direct interaction with voters emerged as a major focus of the discussions.
Nath said the campaign would give particular importance to door-to-door outreach. Courtyard meetings, market-based gatherings and small public meetings would also form part of the campaign programme.
These activities are primarily being planned at the local level. The emphasis is on taking the campaign directly to voters and maintaining grassroots contact.
The strategy places smaller and more localised programmes alongside broader election activities. Such programmes would allow alliance workers and leaders to engage with voters directly in their respective areas.

Today’s meeting was the third state-level discussion between the NDA partners on the Village Committee (VC) polls.
Nath said the meeting focused on exploring joint campaigning, strengthening coordination among the alliance partners and finding ways to tackle election-related difficulties collectively.

Nath said party leaders would brief TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, BJP state president Abhishek Debroy and Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on the matters discussed at Sunday’s meeting.
He said the senior leaders would remain informed as the NDA partners continue their state-level coordination and election preparations.
With direct voter contact, local meetings and selective joint campaigning at the centre of the strategy, the NDA partners are now focusing on translating their coordination into grassroots-level election activity ahead of the Village Committee polls.
