Police identified the injured boy as 12-year-old Morhen Reang. According to police, Morhen was allegedly playing with his brother when a country-made firearm kept inside the house suddenly went off.
The bullet struck Morhen and left him injured.
Family members and local residents first took him to Natun Bazaar Rural Hospital. Doctors later shifted him to Gomati District Hospital after his condition worsened.
Amarpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirman Das said police reached the area after receiving information about the incident.
A subsequent search operation led to the recovery of the country-made gun from a nearby jungle.

According to reports, Kunjamohan was returning home alone after collecting green chillies from his jhum field. At around 5 p.m., unidentified persons allegedly opened fire at him from inside a jungle.

The sound of gunfire created panic in the area. Local residents later rescued Kunjamohan and took him to Gandachhara Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Personnel from R.K. Pur police station reached the spot. Police took the two youths and the damaged vehicle to the police station.
The detainees were later sent for medical examination.
Police identified the two men as 26-year-old Krishan Jamatia of the Noabari Mahanta Market area and 31-year-old Anar Jamatia of Pitrakami area under Udaipur subdivision.
