Veeramma Kalimata Mandir at Rangamura in Melaghar is one of the religious tourist spots in Tripura. The temple was set up in 2015. On Monday, the 6th Foundation Day of the temple was observed in a low-key affair. The founder of the idol of Veeramma Kalimata – Tamil Nadu based engineer Veeramani made an announcement which brought cheers among the devotees as well as local people.
A 274-ft tall temple would be built here at an expected expenditure of Rs 300 crore, Veeramani announced on the occasion of the 6th Foundation Day of the temple at the premises of the temple on July 06 (Monday).
He also said, the new temple would be built depicting South Indian art and culture and construction works would begin soon. It remains unknown as to how long it would take to complete the construction works.
“Once built, this Veeramma Kalimata Temple would the tallest temple in India. Presently, Sree Ranga Temple (236 ft) is the tallest temple followed by Minakshi Temple (176 ft) at Madurai”, local sources said.
Speaking about Foundation Day observance, sources said, this year gatherings were not allowed due to Covid pandemic, only the customary rituals were performed in a disciplined manner without congregation of devotees.
“Even in last year, a big celebration was organized to mark the Foundation Day in which around 50-60 thousand devotees assembled and took part in various religious programmes. Veeramani brought Saints and religious leaders of South India to perform puja and other rituals – overall it was huge celebration ”, temple sources said.
Veeramani – a famous engineer of a South Indian Company was entrusted with renovating the ‘Neermahal’ keeping its basic architecture intact. During the renovation, Veermani, once visited Rangamura – and being an ardent Maa-Bhakt, he set Veeramani Kalimata Temple in 2015.
During last five years, Veeramani Kali Temple emerged as one of the auspicious places and a place for religious Tourism in the State. With the plan to construct huge architecture for the temple, this place is set to draw large number of devotees and tourists. But, the big concern is restrictions due to Covid19 pandemic. When sun will shine again – devotees were murmuring.
