Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has attacked Centre over the arrest of JNU student leaders following the anti-India slogans incident in the university. Addressing the students in the campus Saturday evening, Mr. Gandhi said suppressing the voice of students is anti-national act and government is making the students stronger by crushing them. Left leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja, JD(U) leader K C Tyagi and others also addressed the students who were gathered to protest against the arrests into the controversy. Earlier, some students showed black flags to Rahul Gandhi protesting his visit in the campus.

Meanwhile,Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into the JNU incident. In a tweet, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the city government has directed District Magistrate of concerned area to conduct an enquiry to find the truth. He said there are claims that JNU student leaders shouted anti-India slogans and counter claims that ABVP activists did it. Mr. Kejriwal said no anti-national activity should be tolerated under any circumstances and those who did it must be punished. The Chief Minister, however, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using police to target everyone. He also alleged that the Delhi Police is using dictatorial measures to harass the students over the ongoing row.
