Christine Lagarde has been appointed as the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund for a second five-year term. Her new term will start on 5th of July. IMF Friday said she was the sole candidate nominated for the post. It said that the decision was taken by consensus among its Executive Board. Ms Lagarde, 60, a former French Finance Minister, took over as head of the IMF in 2011 following Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s resignation amid scandal. Ms Lagarde said she was “delighted” to accept a second term to lead the IMF, which represents 188 member countries.
