May 04, 2017: Chief Executive Member of TTAADC, Radha Charan Debbarma, met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on May 03 and discussed with him various issues relating to TTAADC. He was accompanied by Executive member of ADC Education Dept Rajendra Reang and MP Jitendra Choudhury.
Demanding additional power for TTAADC, Radha Charan Debbarma submitted a memorandum containing various other proposals including inclusion of Kokbarok language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution, sources said. The delegates emphasized, Kokbarok language should be granted official status by ensuring that it is included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution, sources said.
ADC sources said, the delegates urged the Home Minister to Amend 73 and 74 articles of the Constitution for empowering ADC in line with three-tier Panchayati Raj system. Alleging that Niti Aayog has slashed the fund allocation for ADC, delegates urged to consider ADC according to 275 and 280 articles for enhanced fund allocation. For socio economic development of people of ADC, it is essential to empower ADC with additional administrative power and additional funds, delegates asserted.
CEM Radha Charan Debbarma proposed to hold a meeting with all the ADC bodies of the North Eastern Region. In reply, Rajnath Singh said that he had received 67 proposals concerning ADC from different organizations. Singh informed Radha Charan Debbarma and other, he is examining the proposals in details.
