Agartala (Tripura) Jul 21: Excitement has reached a fever pitch across the Sadar subdivision as the much-awaited final of the ‘Neeljyoti’ Rakhal Shield Knockout Football Tournament approaches.
On Tuesday evening, two of the region’s top football clubs — Forward Club and Blood Mouth Club — will battle it out under the floodlights at Umakanta Mini Stadium for the coveted title.
Tactical Duel Expected
Both teams wrapped up their final practice sessions on Monday with coaches intensifying preparations and fine-tuning strategies. While Forward Club appears to have a slight advantage on paper, the dynamic Blood Mouth Club, known for their signature orange-and-black jerseys, is expected to put up a strong challenge.
The Blood Mouth squad trained at Umakanta Mini Stadium on Monday morning, while Forward Club quietly concluded their session at Tulabagan Ground.
In the semifinals, both sides struggled to dominate the midfield — a vulnerability both coaching camps have worked to fix ahead of the final.
Monday’s drills focused heavily on controlling the center of the pitch, with coaches believing that midfield supremacy could be the key to lifting the trophy.
Coaches Eye Midfield domination
Forward Club’s veteran coach Roz, a tactician from Kerala, may prove to be the X-factor with his in-depth game knowledge and experience. Meanwhile, Blood Mouth’s head coach Karnendu Debbarma has adopted a cautious but confident approach, focusing on disciplined defense and sharp counterattacks.
Both teams are expected to start in a 4-4-2 formation, though strategic adjustments are likely as the match unfolds.
After the final practice, Coach Debbarma shared his optimism, stating, “My boys are going out there to win. They’re ready, and I trust they’ll deliver.”
When asked about the opposition, he remained reserved, adding, “They are strong, but I know where their weaknesses lie — we’ll exploit them.”
Forward Club Confident, But Cautious
Forward Club’s management exudes confidence heading into the big match. With a professionally assembled squad and strong backing from club officials, they are determined to clinch the title.
However, coaching staff have reminded players not to underestimate their opponents or grow overconfident.
Coach Roz, known for his calm demeanor, hinted at quiet confidence — the subtle smile on his face during training suggesting he has a winning strategy in mind.
CM and Mayor Invited; Legendary Footballer Gautam Bhattacharya to Attend
The State Football Association has finalized all arrangements to ensure a smooth and successful final. The title clash will kick off at 6 PM at Umakanta Mini Stadium under the floodlights.
Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha and Agartala Mayor Deepak Majumdar have been formally invited to attend the event.
Adding further glamour to the finale, iconic Indian footballer Gautam Bhattacharya has arrived in Tripura and will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Tickets, Security, and Prize Details
Football fans can purchase tickets starting Tuesday morning at ticket counters located on both sides of the stadium and at Birendra Club. Each ticket is priced at ₹50, with approximately 4,000 tickets set to be released.

The winning team will take home ₹60,000, while the runner-up will receive ₹40,000, along with additional individual and team awards.
To maintain order during the event, plainclothes security personnel may be deployed.
The organizing committee is working meticulously to make the final a memorable experience for all.
Knockout Committee Secretary Krishnapada Sarkar assured fans, saying, “All preparations are in place. We are confident that the football lovers of Tripura will witness a thrilling and high-quality final tonight.”
