June 5, 2017: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a modern, scientific and eco-friendly waste management system today. The objective of this initiative is to mitigate pollution from wastes and keep Agartala pollution free. This modern waste management system has initially been started in three Wards of AMC. The new initiative was inaugurated at Ward 17 by member of Mayor Council of AMC Phulan Bhattacharjee in presence of Mayor Prafullajit Sinha.
Agartala – known as a green city – is growing fast and its population is increasing. Unless scientific and modern waste management initiatives are being adopted, pollution from waste is bound to cast adverse affect on people, speakers present in the inaugural session opined. The eco-friendly waste management which is already in use in several other cities, will pave way for better waste management as well as pollution free ambiance.
