June 6, 2017: Celebrating World Environment Day on June 5, BSF 14 bn, Tripura Welfare Research Society (TWRS) and TSR 8 bn jointly planted sapling and conducted civic action programme at 18 Kilo area of West Govindabari ADC village in Dhalai district. On this occasion, a seminar was organized at the community hall at Gobindabari 18 Kilo area. The president of TWRS Prashana Choudhury and CEO Manabendra Nag informed this in a press release today.
Officer of BSF 14 bn Himangsu Choudhury and officer of TSR 8th bn Amarjit Debbarma attended the programme as guest of honour. Besides, SDPO of Longtarai Valley subdivision Rahin Debbarma was also present in the programme as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Himangsu Choudhury explained the importance of World Environment Day. He stressed on plantation of trees to prevent Global Warming and to maintain balance in the environment. TSR Officer Amarjit Singh delivered speech on importance of tree plantation for saving the mother Earth.
On the occasion a rally roamed around different roads. Volunteers and members of TWRS, Teachers, school students, BSF and TSR jawans participated in the rally. The objective of the rally is to aware inhabitants of remote areas about importance of preserving environment and nature.
Later the members of three organizations participated in tree plantation programme at different areas. Then BSF 14 Battalion, TSR 8th Battalion and TWR Society distributed cloths, educational materials and food items among the underprivileged students and people of Reang community. Besides, the three organizers provided free treatment facilities to 300 persons of different tribal communities.
