July 01, 2017: Reporting is sacred and noble job. With changing nature of socio-economic conditions, reporting has assumed even greater Importance. Highlighting issues of common people after interacting with them is one of the prime responsibilities of reporters. The Additional Director General (Eastern Region) of PIB, Debanjan Chakrabarti stated this on June 30 at Khowai in a workshop organized for journalists of Khowai district. Around 67 reporters attended the workshop.
Apart from discussions, live demonstration of several yoga asanas was organized in the workshop aiming to popularize yoga and traditional treatment facilities.
The workshop coined as ‘Vartalap’ was organized by the Press Information Bureau, Govt of India at Khowai with cooperation from Khowai Press club. The ADG, Debanjan Chakrabarti inaugurated the workshop and focused on objectives of ‘Vartalap’ as well as role of reporters in a fast transforming society. He urged to maintain the sanctity of the profession and work for benefit of the people and society. Media and Communication Officer Sudipta Kar delivered welcome speech. Commandant of 48 Btn of BSF, Manas Ranjan Panda and president of Khowai Press Club Ashit Baran Ghosh were also present in the workshop.
Addressing the media person, Assistant Director of Agartala DD News S P Mondal emphasized on reporting about prevailing conditions of poor and downtrodden people. He also discussed about style of reporting for electronic media as well as print media.
Speaking on the occasion, journalist Biswendu Bhattacharjee said, journalism is no longer a ‘mission’, it has become a consumer-centric profession with the advent of market economy. “Reporters are left with no option, but to write or report on topics that the readers and viewers prefer. News is now a sale able product”, he opined.
Yogaacharya Dr Arbinda Majumder infused a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm among the media persons. Suggesting methods to stay healthy and fit he highlighted importance of yoga and naturopathy in present day. He said, “Yoga and naturopathy is not only cheap as per far as cost of treatment is concerned, these are, effective cure without side effects, claimed Dr Majumder.
