Agartala, Feb 27: A 12-day skill training programme has opened new self-employment opportunities for 33 rural youth and women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in West Tripura.
The initiative was organised by the Rural Development & Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) to promote micro-entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
A total of 56 candidates had applied for the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) on Fast Food Making. After screening, 33 deserving candidates from rural BPL households were selected.
All selected participants successfully completed the training at the RUDSETI campus in AD Nagar.
The programme combined practical food preparation skills with entrepreneurship guidance. Trainees learned to make fruit cakes, chocolates, biscuits, namkeen, cupcakes, jar cakes and other popular snacks.
Master Trainer Chaiti Dey conducted detailed hands-on sessions and live demonstrations to ensure practical understanding.
Along with technical skills, participants received inputs on starting and managing small businesses. They attended motivational sessions and interacted with a successful local entrepreneur to gain real-life business insights.
The training aimed to help them start home-based food ventures with low investment.
The programme was coordinated by Rashmi Baidya with support from Hopereng Debbarma. Office Assistant Mithil Karmakar managed biometric attendance and MIS records.
Participants were mobilised through village-level Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes and social media outreach.

Director Siddhartha Khan congratulated the trainees and distributed certificates. RUDSETI Agartala, supported by Canara Bank, continues to play a key role in empowering rural BPL families through structured entrepreneurship training.
According to the participants, the initiative marks another step toward strengthening rural livelihoods and encouraging self-reliance in Tripura.
