Agartala, August 10: Triveni Sangha ended the Hotel Sonartari Second Division League campaign in style. The team defeated Naboday Sangha 7-1 at Umakanta Mini Stadium on Monday.
The result confirmed Triveni Sangha as unbeaten champions. The club also secured promotion to the First Division for next season.
The title was already within Triveni Sanghaโs grasp before the final match. However, the team showed no sign of easing off. The players attacked from the opening whistle and kept the Naboday defence under constant pressure.
Subar Debbarma opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Naboday Sangha attempted to respond but struggled to contain Triveniโs attacking moves.
John Jamatia extended the lead in the 31st minute. Naboday finally found a breakthrough four minutes later. Krishna Kishore Jamatia scored in the 35th minute to make it 2-1.
Triveni Sangha then took complete control after the interval.
Amit, Naisa and Lalmanngai Complete Rout
Amit Jamatia struck twice in quick succession. He scored in the 45th and 47th minutes to put Triveni 4-1 ahead.
Naisa Jamatia added another goal in the 62nd minute. Lalmanngai Hjuwala then completed the rout with two late strikes.
Hjuwala scored in the 78th minute before finding the net again in the 90th minute.
