What Happened on July 20
According to the Chief Minister, DIG Anurag went to his office chamber after receiving the ceremonial salute.

The DIG then entered a small changing room adjoining the washroom. He locked the changing-room door from inside without informing the orderly.
Several officers later came to the main door of the chamber. They returned after receiving no response.
After 11 am, officials informed the personal section about the situation. Concern grew when the changing-room door remained locked from inside.
Officials then called a carpenter from Police Headquarters. Several other officers also reached the spot.
They broke open the locked door. Officers found that the washroom door was also locked from inside.
They opened the second door and found DIG Anurag hanging inside.
Officials followed the required procedures and shifted him to AGMC and GBP Hospital in Agartala. Doctors examined him at around 12:48 pm.
Unnatural Death Case Registered
A UD, or unnatural death, case was registered on July 20 at West Agartala police station.
Police registered the case based on written information submitted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Headquarters, Tripura Police.
The Director General of Police directed the State Bureau to take charge of the investigation.
Officers from the Tripura Police Crime Branch and West District Police joined the probe. An Inspector General of Police is supervising the investigation.
Forensic Evidence Under Examination
Dr Manik Saha said investigators are using scientific and technological methods because of the sensitive nature of the case.
The State Forensic Science Laboratory examined the scene. It also submitted a spot verification report.
Investigators conducted an inquest. They also seized ligature material connected with the incident.
The post-mortem report cited hanging as the cause of death. It described the death as suicidal in nature.
However, the investigation has not yet reached a final conclusion.
Police have sent viscera samples to the Toxicology Division of the State Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
Investigators have also sent other relevant materials for forensic analysis.
