Nearly seven lakh voters in West Tripura district will come under a comprehensive electoral roll verification exercise as authorities prepare to update voter records, review polling stations and address gaps in voter mapping.

SIR process to start with preparations
The administration will begin the SIR exercise with training, planning and other preparations from September 5.
The major field-level activity will start on September 15. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house verification across the district.
BLOs will visit households and distribute forms required for the revision process. The door-to-door verification drive will continue until October 14.
The administration will use the exercise to verify voter information and identify gaps in the existing electoral roll.
Draft electoral roll on October 21
After the household verification exercise, officials will take up rationalisation of polling stations.
The draft electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 21.
Voters will then receive an opportunity to examine the draft list. They can submit claims or objections between October 21 and November 20.
Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) will examine the submissions. They will hear and dispose of claims and objections between October 21 and December 19.
The final electoral roll will be released on December 23.
Helpdesks to support voters
The district administration will set up helpdesks at the offices of the District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrates from September 5.

It also has 57 Additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. The field network includes 82 BLO Supervisors and 795 BLOs.
The district currently has 795 polling stations.

The administration has proposed significant changes to the polling station network as part of the rationalisation exercise for 2025 and 2026.
A total of 67 new polling stations have been proposed. Authorities have also recommended changes to seven existing polling station locations.

Over 6.99 lakh electors in West Tripura
West Tripura has 6,99,429 registered electors.

The verification drive will therefore play an important role in checking voter records and completing the mapping exercise.
Voters can use 1950 helpline
The district administration will also provide assistance through the toll-free voter helpline number 1950.
Officials have asked voters to cooperate with BLOs during the house-to-house verification.
