The government is also introducing a unique Farmer ID for every farmer. This initiative aims to improve access to welfare schemes run by the Centre and the state. The identification system is intended to help eligible farmers receive the benefits of these programmes.
New Agricultural Offices to Improve Support
The state is strengthening its agricultural administration to bring services closer to farmers.
Nath said every district has a Deputy Director of Agriculture and a Deputy Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation. The government has also decided to establish an Agricultural Sub-Divisional Office in every block.
These offices will help farmers access government schemes and agricultural support services. They will also strengthen coordination between the department and farming communities.
Tripura currently has 47 Agricultural Sub-Divisional Offices and nine Horticulture and Soil Conservation Sub-Divisional Offices.
During his visit to Khowai district, Nath inaugurated the offices of the Deputy Director of Agriculture and the Deputy Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation. He also opened a two-storey rural market at Brindavan Ghat Bazar for farmers and traders.
Natural Farming Expansion Planned for 2026-27
The government is also promoting natural farming to diversify cultivation practices.
According to Nath, natural farming currently covers 5,550 hectares in Tripura. A total of 13,875 farmers are engaged in this method.

The state plans to bring an additional 11,250 hectares under natural farming during the 2026-27 financial year. This expansion will increase the area devoted to the practice.
The Minister also highlighted the marketing of organic agricultural produce. Since 2020-21, Tripura has marketed organically grown crops worth Rs 17.2 crore in different Indian states and overseas markets.
