Agartala (Tripura) January 05: The Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar today assured the terminated 10,323 teachers
Terminated 10323 teachers today have found something – an assurance from MoHRD – to look forward. “The Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has assured us that the Ministry would take all possible steps to protect the services of 10323 teachers”, claimed BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
A six-member delegation of BJP leaders- Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Biswajit Daimari, Sudip Roy Barman and teachers’ representatives- Pradip Banik and Aurobindo Sharma held meeting with Javadekar at New Delhi today afternoon and briefed about the ordeal of 10323 teachers.
Sources said, terminated teacher urged the Union Minister to allow necessary relaxation in recruitment of teachers and secure their jobs. In support of their request, the teachers raised an important point to ponder.
They mentioned, the graduate teachers had joined service months before the RTE Act came into force while the post-graduate teachers had received offer of appointment on August 18, 2010 while they joined service latest by August 26-three days after the RTE act came into effect.
Earlier in April last year, three MPs of Tripura also urged the MoHRD for allowing one time relaxation of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) for youths of Tripura, as the state did not have sufficient number of qualified candidates.
They requested Javadekar to consider the proposal of state government to extend one time relaxation, in terms of marks and professional qualifications because the adequate number of candidates was not available in the state.
Even though fate of terminated teachers who were freshly appointed on ad-hoc basis from January 1 last for next six months is still in dark, a ray of hope emanated today after obtaining an assurance from the Minister. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
