All venues in Meghalaya are ‘ready’ for the 12th South Asian Games. Chief Executive Officer of the Games in Shillong, R.K. Sharma said that around 200 athletes and officials have arrived with a similar number expected to arrive today and tomorrow. Some athletes have already seen practising like the Indian archery and women’s football teams. He said that players’ and officials’ accommodation has been arranged along with transportation. The Indian women’s football team are grouped with Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives and Nepal. The head coach of the women’s national team, Sajid Dar said that the team is physically and mentally prepared and fully fit for the opening match with Bangladesh on 7th of this month in Shillong. Sharma told AIR that priority would be given to senior citizens who came to watch the games and a separate queue is being arranged. Selling of tickets in Shillong have already picked up in Shillong. More than 300 tickets have been sold for Badminton matches to be played at the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. The venue has an overall capacity of 500 seats.
