Agartala, October 09, 2019: A mega carnival with Maa Durga Idols – – for the first time ever in Tripura – is set to enthral the Agartala people on October 11 next.
Coined as ‘Mayer Biday’ – the mega carnival aims at showcasing traditional idol immersion practices and highlighting Tripura tourism.
National Working president of BJP and MP, JP Nadda, party’s North East minister Ram Madhav and other top brass of the party along with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and other State leaders will attend the carnival, Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik said this.
Addressing a Press Conference regarding the event this evening, Bhoumik said, the mega carnival will be held to encourage the Puja organizers of the city and also to put forth a message of tourism development. “It is an innovative approach of the government to brand the state’s traditional practice of idol immersion in a new package” Bhwomik told reporters.
Briefing about the arrangement made to mark the day of carnival, she said, proper security arrangements have been taken to make the event all successful. Ramps for idol immersion have been put on place and proper traffic arrangements have been also made to resist any untoward incident.
She also informed the media persons that an website had been also launched for the purpose – www.Mayerbiday.com.
She urged everyone to participate in the event. Prizes will be also distributed among the best organizers during the event. The procession will start from Post office Chowmuhani on Friday 4 pm.
