Agartala, October 17, 2019: Tripura Tourism is increasingly becoming more exciting – while plans for ropeway construction or setting up of replica of 51-pitha are some of the new initiatives of Tripura Government, introduction of battery cars initially in two ‘must visit’ sites will benefit tourists in eco-friendly manner.
Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited introduced battery-operated cars to facilitate movements of tourists and signed an MoU with Narkel Kunja Tourism Co-operative Society under Swadesh darshan Scheme in Agartala today. State Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy introduced two the battery-operated cars – one for Ujjayanta Palace and the other one for Akhaura Integrated Check Post. The MoU was signed for development of ‘Narkel Kunja’ – place of captivating scenic beauty.
Speaking on the occasion Singha Roy said, tourism industry is thriving across the world and the sector has emerged as a profitable sector in India. The Government of India also undertaken several schemes to promote tourism in the country and Tripura is eyeing to grab the opportunity and ensure faster growth in the tourism sector for attaining economic prosperity.
Highlighting the potentiality of Tripura tourism, the Minister said, picturesque natural beauty is the prime attraction of the State while religious and archaeological sites add variety making Tripura tourism enchanting, Pranajit Singha Roy commented and added, with sustained efforts of the State Government, number tourists have increased compared to last year. Outlining the success of the Government, Singha Roy said, noticeable improvement was achieved in improving infrastructures at Narkel Kunj at an expenditure of Rs 4 crore 98 lakhs and 66 thousand.
The Government is working to address drinking water crisis at Chabimura, setting up three-star hotels at Udaipur and Unakoti and reintroducing Light-and-sound system at Neermahal and Ujjayanta Palace. Also, steps have been initiated for introducing rope-way between Udaipur rail station and Matabari as well as placing a replica of 51-pitha at Matabari.
He also said that State Government is holding talks with the Central government for introducing 11 places as tourist spots under Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
